Q: How can I prepare for the GED® Test?
 A: Take the official practice test. This is available at any of our class sites or at ged.com.   Enroll in GED preparation classes offered through Southside Programs for Adult Continuing Education (call 804-733-2670). GED study guides are available at your local bookstore, local library, or at ged.com.
 
Q: How much time does it take to complete the GED test?
 A: The testing time for the four GED tests is approximately 8 hours.  Preparation for the test will vary depending on an individual's skill level and dedication to a program of study.

Q: How much does it cost to take the GED test?
 A: For the full test battery for a first-time tester, the cost is $144.00. The cost for an individual subject test is $36.00.  If you need to retake a test, the cost is $10.00 per subject area, if taken within 12 months.
 
Q: How do I register for the GED test?
 A: You need to register online at ged.com
 
Q: Who can take the GED test?
 A: You may take the test if you are:
    • Not enrolled in high school and are at least 18 years old, OR
    • If you are under 18, have been released from compulsory school attendance by the local school division, OR
    • are enrolled in an ISAEP program.
 
Q: What subjects does the GED cover?
A: The GED is a series of four (4) tests with questions covering Reasoning through Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science.
